Trendy Thursday

Current Kitchen Trends:ISLAND

There are many kitchen trends that I’m not sure I understand (for example, the panels over the fridge… what is that? Popular. That’s what that is). But if there’s one “trend” I LOVE to see in a kitchen, it’s an island.

Seriously. Is there anything better than a beautiful frame-less, stained or paintable kitchen with a gorgeous multi functioning Island to complete the look?

Here are a few reasons you should consider adding an island to your home:

  1. Extra Storage

This is probably my favorite reasoning for adding an island to your kitchen. We’ve built islands with secret “snack” drawers for grandbabies, spice racks, places to hold your pots/pans, etc. The opportunities are endless in what can be stored.

  1. Extra seating space

Built at bar height, it’s easy to sneak in an extra seat or five to fit every party need! Also fun to do homework from the bar while mom or dad is busy cooking up and afternoon snack and/or dinner.

  1. Pop of color / modernize

If you’re looking for a fun way to add some color or design to your kitchen, an island is one of the best ways to do it! Without having to change up your whole kitchen, you can add a pop of color or give your kitchen a whole new feel by one added piece of cabinetry.

  1. Design options are endless

There is no end to how you can make your kitchen island work for you. Want to put an extra sink in? Doable. Want to paint it in chalk paint? Done. Want to put your cook range on it to free up more space somewhere else? We got you!

If you or someone you know are looking to add these amazing features in a kitchen, please give us a call! We’d be happy to walk you through a kitchen island that meets your needs.

What is a trend you’re pondering to do in your kitchen?

Another Update

CPW UPDATE!

Hey ya’ll (for the  non-Southerners, you all)

We hope you have had an amazing summer. To be honest we are thankful that the summer heat is moving behind us as it is incredibly hot out in our shop. If you know someone who works outside, in a hot shop, etc. be sure and thank them! It’s brutal but our crew are champs.

A little update on what is to come for CP&W and how it’ll benefit you!

  • We are finalizing our new ordering system THIS WEEK!!! (Fingers crossed). The goal of using a new ordering system is to make it more user friendly on the part of our customer and more accurate for our shop floor as well. We are hoping to eliminate common misunderstandings through the ease of this process. While we know that takes time, we are excited for you all to be able to give us as much feedback as possible. Look for our new “order” button to be added to the webpage!
  • European Style Cabinets. A lot of our customers don’t know that we build European (also known as Frameless style) cabinets. We do this for many reasons but no reason more so than we like the way the look. The European style has a “cleaner” look and provides more space. Why wouldn’t you want a more stylish and better functioning cabinet? Give us a call for more information at 501-778-2739.

  • Paint/MDF Shaker doors. We are now offering our Shaker (simple) style door in paintable MDF wood.

  • Paint/MDF miter doors. Miter doors are something newer we offer. These fancier doors have been a huge hit in all species of wood so we decided to find a way to cut them on the CNC router with paintable MDF wood.

What would you, our customer, like to see? Any updates on social media? A different door style? More moulding options? Let us know anytime by emailing us at sarah@cpandw.com

How to Measure for Your Cabinet Doors

One question we get asked a lot is “but how am I supposed to measure these?”.

So, here are a few steps to measuring your cabinet doors at home!

Cabinet doors measurements are determined by the cabinet opening size and door overlay desired. Overlay is how far you want your door to go past the opening. Our standard is 1/2 inch overlay.

For example, on a single cabinet door opening, let’s say it measures 12 inches wide by 24 inches tall. If we use the 1/2 overlay the door would become 13 inches wide (1/2 inch left + 1/2 inch right =1 inch added in width) by 25 inches (1/2 inch bottom + 1/2 inch top = 1 inch added in height).

For openings with two cabinet doors and no center stile, take the opening width, divide by two, and add the overlay.

For example, a 24 inch wide by 24 inch tall cabinet with the standard 1/2 overlay would require two doors.

24 divided by 2 is 12. Add in 1/2 inch for left and 1/2 inch for right and you have 13 width by 25 (24 + 1) tall.

Always right your width first.

Measuring is not scary! Make sure you have your tape measure and your notebook ready to jot down measurements.

Of course, if you have any concerns, questions, etc. during the measurement stage, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 501-778-2739.

Zebra Wood matched grain

Here are the final pictures of a collaboration project CP&W did. We teamed up with an exotic veneer specialist (and incredibly talented designer) from here in central Arkansas, Tommy Farrell. Tommy and his team did incredible work!!

What we loved most about this project (besides being able to team up with Farrell and the view of the place) was the creative work that went into making this condo have a modern pop to it.

This gorgeous wine rack was on of our favorite parts of the overall project (and no, we didn’t do any wine tasting). Currently thinking every house needs a wine cabinet as amazing as this one!

What home doesn’t need a “hidden” spice rack?? I love how clean and classic this looks inside the kitchen. Plus, you never have to ask your taller husband to reach your spices for you!
I think someone could do some major damage in this kitchen for Thanksgiving!
This is a special condo that overlooks the River Market, the Arkansas River, and Verizon arena. Talk about a view.

What’s new for CP&W

Hello all,

First of all, we wanted to say thank you! Our customers have been fantastic to us, and we are excited for what’s in store for C P & W.

Second, we want to say, sorry. We have been a little MIA lately, and that’s something we are working on.

So, what’s new for you guys you might ask? Well, for starters, we’re going to start being more vocal. We want to always be in engagement with our customers. So, if you haven’t already, click on that facebook symbol on our home page. Go like and follow us. We promise to be better at updating it… and who knows, we might even offer a give away (okay, we plan on doing a couple give aways… and soon. So go, right now, and like our page so you’ll always be in the know).

We also started an Instagram page. Go follow CPW1025.. If you have already been following our facebook site, you would know that our office manager, Sarah, made no promises to not fill your feed with funny memes, awesome projects we are working on for the amazing customers we mentioned above, and pictures of dogs.

We are also working on making the ordering process for all of our online folks (as well as customers who are more local but would prefer to use their computers for ordering) easier. It’s new and exciting and should be ready to launch at the end of this month. Please be looking for it as there might be a reward (give away) for a few people who give us constructive feedback on it as we know it will be a continually improving aspect.

Fiser Development

For the past couple years, we have had the privilege of doing business with Salem Homes Fiser Development. Dee Fiser and his wife, Masami, have worked hard to build a Community in which you feel welcomed, cozy, and unique. Their homes offer unique designs, open floor plans, front porches, and so much more. We have truly enjoyed being a part of this new Community right here in our home town.

Here is a little bit of the work we have done for Fiser homes in both their Olde Salem neighborhood as well as Creek Side

My favorite part about these Fiser homes is the simple, yet modern feel they give. From the fun colored Island, to the beautiful colored homes, Fiser has a way to make every home in their developments stand out. These spacious homes are great for families, young couples, and grandparents wanting to enjoy the next phase of their lives. Check out Salem Homes Fiser Development for more information… you won’t be sorry!

Shaker Gothic

One of our latest projects, a shaker style door with gothic glass. This was for a home in Mt. Ida.

Now, I just want to go cook up a snack, pour a drink, and cozy up to the fireplace (even if it is 90 degress today) and admire the beautiful craftsmanship that went into this home.

If you are looking for a fun way to modernize your home, shaker style is the way to go. This style is simple, elegant, and popular! The gothic glass doors add a fun surprise to the mix, making your kitchen (or bar, entertainment center, etc.) stand out.

If you want to make your dream Shaker style Gothic kitchen a reality, call us at 501-778-2739. We would love to make your dreams come true!
